What We Do

Two and half hours of grueling karate and we’re all in the showers.

Bubbles all over his body Sensei looks down in a forward stance moving his fist back and forth from his hip.

Twenty years on and he’s still perfecting a basic punch you learn on day one.

Basics are the foundation of mastery

You cannot skip the basics

You cannot buy basics

You cannot give them away

Work on them over and over until you become the Master

The Big Idea

The Big Idea

I spent years playing the bass. Never needed a reason to play.

Still don’t.

Bass is the most authentic thing I do, played for its own sake and assumes its own shape.

There was no BIG PLAN behind the work, it was a release away from day jobs, hassle, noise and doing things other peoples way.

Bass gave me freedom to do whatever I want my way

Was I any good? Was I going to get anywhere? Didn’t matter. There was never commercial intent, although money would have been great.

It wasn’t about ambition. Bass belonged to me, I found it all by my own. Bass didn’t require money or the nod from any other persons say so.

When I finally decided to look up from the bass I saw wide eyed people with dropped jaws staring at me giving me nothing but respect, the outside world paid attention to me.

Bass guitar taught me if you want to do something amazing with your life just make sure what you do, the BIG IDEA… is YOURS. It doesn’t matter what you do as long as what you have is YOURS.

No need to copy Mary, Bob and Jane ‘Crushing it’ when you find the courage to OWN WHAT YOU DO

People will resonate with what you do, which can turn into a lot of people resonating with what you do.

YOUR BIG IDEA Can Change You and Your World

The New Frontier

You know WHAT you do

You know HOW you do it

Do you know WHY you do it?

WHAT you do is tangible proof of your WHY

Some of my ‘WHATS’…

Create original music

Write books

Stand up comedy

I had no voice as a child

I was invisible

These are all forms of self expression

WHAT comes from WHY

Start thinking about WHY not WHAT

Life Happens While You Wait

I spent a lifetime creating demo songs to perfect my craft.

All those demo tapes once full up ended up in plastic bags in storage, never to see the light of day.

This was before the Internet.

Today you can potentially get in front of millions of people by clicking a button.

You don’t have to wait until you get everything perfect because what you have today is good enough.

This business of publishing information allows you to perfect what you do as you go along.

Learning to write is like keeping a journal, you start to see theme’s emerge, words you keep repeating.

You don’t have to have perfect gramma because the right people will know what you’re trying to say.

It’s not about the words, it’s about the communication.

This is a journey of self-discovery as much as anything else.

AND, you get to commit to talk about your favourite subject…

You can talk about how you perceive the world.

What you feel.

That’s what people connect with.

You don’t need to wait to get everything perfect.

You have a lifetime of thinking and doing under your belt.

When will you know enough?

Here’s something you should know…

You know enough already to get started today.

Maybe you don’t know how to start to get what you want to say out into the world.

I do.

You don’t have to wait until you have everything perfect because it can take a long time to get going.

Life is happening while you wait.

This is what you talk about.

New Future Society

One hundred years of mass media marketing has taught us to acquire more and more material things… People have enough material ‘things’ and want something deeper, something with more meaning.

People have an appetite for transparency. There is a growing interest in human kind’s emotional side because we crave meaning, we want and are looking for real credible people…

We all want to have wealth and material prosperity, but they’re not the number one goal that motivates many people… Core Values are playing an ever increasing important role in people’s lives.

People need and want authentic real stories… real people to help them solve their problems, not faceless copycat marketers just trying to sell them the next latest and greatest…

Telling truthful honest stories, or being authentic is not just a trend or buzz word, but become a SOCIAL FORCE

That’s not just me saying those things…

Futurist Rolf Jensen’s writes in his book Dream Society that…

It’s a new society in which businesses, communities, and people as individuals will thrive on the basis of their stories, not just on data and information.’ (P.1)

People have become more concerned with finding and expressing their individuality than conforming to societal norms, people seek meaning.

Future products will have to appeal to our hearts, not our heads. When this has happened, the prevailing societal model in the affluent countries will no longer be the Information Society…

Now is the time to add emotional value to products and services.’ (P. Vii)

The market for stories [is] The beginning of the New Future

You’re at the beginning of this new future society…

Now’s the time to put your story out into the world.

Stop Hiding, Stop Studying and Start Living

Everyone is wounded in some way; it’s easy to see why you unconsciously hide yourself away from the world. Secluded and on your own, you become busy doing the things you know how to do instead of the things you don’t know how to do that need to get done. Without fuss or resistance you quietly quarantined yourself away from the outside world, getting ready to get ready, perfecting products and services that answer questions no one will ever ask.

If by some miracle you do manage to complete a project, no one will ever find out about this great work of yours because it will never see the light of day. You have all these great ideas but never pull the trigger to release it to the world. Your precious work will sit on your hard drive forever while you start another project, which will also end up just sitting on your hard drive, and so it goes.

All that time spent learning and writing important, meaningful stuff that will benefit people that need to hear what you have to say, but instead you file it away in folders within folders with headings that are quickly forgotten. In time you’ll have multiple folders on your computer that make it impossible to find anything. Just the same as the many notebooks of varying sizes and clear plastic folders with different segments that get a steady supply of written content you’re always learning that will never to be seen or looked at by anyone – including you.

Now for something you really don’t want to hear. When your time comes to depart from this world, what will happen to all that work? I can tell you from experience that all that work and on-going work, all that knowledge, all that effort, all that life energy that went into creating your important masterly work will pass into the hands of another person that has to take care of your estate.

That person may be related or not, whichever it is doesn’t matter because they don’t know or understand the passion you had for your subject, let alone the amount of time, life and energy you put into your life’s work. To any other person but you, all they’ll see is a computer and a load of old notebooks stacked up in the corner along with all your other ‘junk.’

They will never take the time to go through all the important work you left behind, they won’t even glance at a single piece that you agonized over for your entire adult life. Even though what they’re looking at is potentially life changing and can benefit them beyond measure, they’ll never see it.

Where do you think all that insight and experience you could have given to the world will end up? How many times have you walked past a rubbish tip and seen boxes of books and paper in folders? I’ve seen them and put boxes there. Many times you’ll be looking at a persons precious ideas that never found their way out into the world, they were kept locked up in notebooks.

Don’t try to sidestep what I have just said and think it doesn’t apply to you. It is important to understand the real cost of what procrastination, polishing and endlessly perfecting your work will ultimately cost you in the long run.

You will never know the full impact your work could have on another person’s life, the impact will be far reaching beyond the information you can teach.

When you find the courage to put yourself out into the world… [You finish the sentence]

An old allegory teaches when Truth was born and went among Mankind.

The people didn’t want to hear what he had to say and so turned their backs on him.

Rejected and humiliated, Truth goes into the hills to live alone in a cave.

One night sitting alone by his fire, Story comes to him.

She asks: “Why are you out here, alone and depressed?”

Truth replies: “I am Truth, but when I went among Mankind, they would have nothing to do with me.”

Story observes that it is no wonder, “Look at you, you’re naked!”

She then says: “I am Story, I have many cloaks and robes. They come in all sizes and colours. Wear one of these and go among the people.”

Clothed in one of Story’s garments, Truth returned to the people and is immediately accepted.

It is said that since that day, no matter how harsh, hard or cruel Truth may be, when he comes clothed in a story, he is accepted.

What are you going to wear?

Courage To Speak

Secluded, on your own, busy doing the things you know how to do instead of doing the things you don’t know how to do – that need to get done

Without fuss or resistance you shut yourself away, quietly quarantined yourself from the outside world, separated yourself from life and living to get ready to get ready, perfecting products and services that answer questions no one is asking.

Even if you do manage to complete a product, no one will ever find out about this great work of yours that can benefit many people because you don’t know how to put your knowledge and experience out into the world.

Your great work will sit on your hard drive forever while you quietly start another project, which will sit on your computer next to all the other products gathering digital dust on your hard drive.

No one will benefit from your work or will ever know who you are unless you get your true knowledge and experience out into the world.

If this sounds like you I want you to consider the idea you may be hiding yourself away from the world.

Hiding has many names…

Doubt / Fear / Out of Sight / Isolation / Aloneness / Solitude / Confusion / Disorganised / Unsystematic / Working at random

Don’t Wait.

Use what talent you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best.” Henry Van Dyke

Let the past go and find the courage to speak

Just sayin

The Prize

Selling is LEADERSHIP…

Before you can sell to anyone, you’ve got to make the first sale

What an Ideal Client can expect to receive from your OFFER starts with YOU because People buy People.

You’ve got to be sold 100% on your OFFER, there will be no second sale without making the first.

Your OFFER is not something just to make money, it’s an extension of YOU.

The VALUE you place on yourself, your self worth will bring more prosperity than how good you are at your craft.

Set your Intention to be more Committed than the client is about their own circumstance.

Care more because no one cares what you know until they know you care.

Communicate your VISION to the client.

When you’re sold on your unique VALUE, there will be zero resistance wanting to communicate it to the world

I was afraid when I was young.

I lived on the outside.

I talked and no one listened

I don’t know why life turned out this way.

I was meant to be someone.

What happened to me?

Where did I go wrong?

Why am I holding back?

Why was I so afraid to live?

When is it my turn?
